Top 2021 Fall Decor Trends

Is there anything better than fall. I think I love the falling leaves the most. Designing my front porch is something that truly makes me happy. I love including refinished pieces I worked on through the summer as well as vintage hunting for unique pieces. With fall always comes a change to the interior of my home. I've spent endless hours on my Pinterest feed falling head of heels for all the fall trends. I've spent some time putting together some of my favs. Check them out and let me know what you love and what you would perhaps pass on! I love hearing from you all!

1. Rustic Chic:  This warm fall trend includes exposed fire wood next to your wood burning fireplace mixed with modern fresh decor. I love how this trend never goes out of style. This look wins every time for a timeless feels that make the winters that much warmer inside. I always suggest opting for comfortable furniture styled with exposed wood beams. Oh so dreamy! To save on the huge cost of real wood ceiling beams, I would suggest researching faux wood beams which will give you the look your going for without the high price tag. Some other must have decor items for a rustic home includes: Vintage dining room chairs, huge eye catching chandeliers, earthy wall tones, large oversized coffee tables, wood platters and unique kitchen accents.

2.    Rattan & Earthy fabrics:  I’m seeing this trend gain huge traction here in Western Canada after being so crazy popular over in Australia. This type of material is extremely durable and adaptive to so many different styles. I love huge rattan pendants over dining room tables and smaller ones for bedside tables. Rattan can be dyed so many colours which all look so good together. Rattan hanging chairs are popping up on my instagram feed almost everyday! There are even stunning dog beds being constructed out of rattan materials too. My only suggestion is that you ensure you are purchasing quality rattan from good solid companies who pay fair wages to the workers making them! Equality and fairness always!

3. Eco Conscious & Plastic Free:  This trend is a big one. trending big time on every social media platform. I am loving all the alternatives to plastic for the kitchen and home. Some great ideas include: Wood dish brush with a natural bristle headWalnut Shell Scour Pads, Natural Vegetable brushes (a must for cleaning your harvest), Mason jar soap pumps which tie into the rustic chic trend. For the pantry, I reuse my glass jars any time I can which keeps it super organized. I really love the natural colours which most zero waste products typically use. They fit into any decor and most importantly saves our planet! What else is there to love. Calgary has some lovely plastic free shops and refineries. A couple of my favs are: Withoutco, and The Apothercary in Inglewood.

4. Paint Brands To Reach For:  Paint is where I get really creative! I love to take my time choosing the right wall color. I like to use Benjamin Moore and good old Behr premium or marquee (their floor paints really good too). I love BM's color of the year for 2021 and i'm so curious what it will be for 2022. For furniture my all time fav is Fusion Mineral which can be used for outdoor use as well. I added a picture below showing all the color swatches.I suggest Top Coats too as they have great stains and glazes. When i’m reaching for chalk paint, Annie Sloan is my top choice depending on the finish i’m after!

5. Wall Paper Is Everywhere:  I haven’t used wall paper lately but i’m planning to very soon! Here are a few that I have been looking into. I’m thinking huge pink peonies, palm leaves, a super busy print on a single wall or a water color look! Check each of them out and let me know in the comments which brand catches your eye! A few of my most loved companies include: HoviaWall PopsRocky Mountain DecalsUrban Walls and of course Simple Shapes.
